inDrive Wins Tech Excellence Award for AI in PH

Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Ride-hailing platform inDrive has clinched the Philippines Technology Excellence Award for AI – Transportation at the Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2025, underscoring its commitment to building mobility solutions centered on fairness, inclusivity, and human empowerment.

AI for the People, Not Against Them

In an industry often criticized for rigid pricing and lack of transparency, inDrive is redefining how artificial intelligence should be used. Instead of replacing people, its human-centric AI approach empowers both passengers and drivers, creating more equitable transport experiences in busy cities like Manila and Cebu.

Mark Tolley, inDrive’s APAC Director, expressed the team’s pride in the recognition. “This award isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people we serve. We’re using AI to give users more autonomy, ensure fairness, and create safer, more transparent experiences for both passengers and drivers.”

AI in Action: How inDrive Improves Daily Commutes

In the Philippines, where affordability and transparency are top commuter concerns, inDrive’s AI innovations directly tackle everyday challenges:
  • Photo-control systems powered by machine vision to check vehicle safety and condition.
  • AI-assisted support routing for quicker issue resolution between passengers and drivers.
  • Predictive demand algorithms that position drivers where they’re needed most.
  • More accurate ETAs and traffic-sensitive routing in congested areas like Metro Manila and Cebu.

Breaking Barriers with Gemini AI

Language diversity in the Philippines often causes booking miscommunications. To address this, inDrive integrated Gemini AI-powered translations within its app. This system handles slang, typos, and informal phrases across English, Tagalog, Cebuano, and other dialects—leading to smoother bookings and improved ride completion rates.

Sofia Guinto, Business Development Head at inDrive Philippines, emphasized the bigger picture, “AI is not just about efficiency—it’s about fairness and opportunity. We want mobility to be more reliable, inclusive, and smarter for Filipinos.”

Safer Rides Through AI Moderation

To ensure a safer commuting environment, inDrive employs AI moderation that scans ride messages, booking notes, and shared media. In the Philippines, this technology has cut misuse of ride instructions by more than threefold within three months, significantly reducing risks for both passengers and drivers.

Building Trust and the Future of Mobility

The award adds to inDrive’s growing reputation in the region. Recently, it was also named the Preferred Ride-Hailing Partner of Echelon Philippines 2025, highlighting its intent to work more closely with fintech players, tech innovators, and policymakers.

Tolley reinforced inDrive’s mission, “Technology is often seen as cold and impersonal. At inDrive, we see AI as a tool to restore trust, strengthen communities, and make journeys more humane.”

Currently, inDrive offers ride-hailing services across the Philippines but has plans to expand into superapp offerings, including courier services and online groceries.

By proving that profitability and fairness can coexist, inDrive is showing the rest of the mobility industry how AI can empower, not exploit. With its award-winning innovations, Filipino commuters and drivers can look forward to safer, smarter, and more inclusive journeys ahead.

If you’re looking for a ride-hailing app that puts people first, inDrive is worth keeping an eye on as it gears up to expand in the Philippines.

Globe Scam Shield Fights Rising Text Scams

Text scams are becoming more cunning by the day, and Globe is stepping up to fight back. The telco giant has rolled out a new SMS Scam Shield feature on the GlobeOne app, designed to help protect Filipinos from phishing attempts that often disguise themselves as trusted brands like Globe or GCash.

Protecting Filipinos from Smishing

Text-based scams, also known as smishing, have been on the rise, tricking unsuspecting users into clicking fake links or giving away sensitive data. Many of these come from spoofed sender names such as “GLOBE,” “GLOBEREWARD,” or “GCASH,” making them look legitimate at first glance. Worse, scammers are now using rogue devices called IMSI catchers, which mimic cell towers to push malicious texts.

With SMS Scam Shield, Globe aims to give its subscribers peace of mind and more control over their digital safety.

How SMS Scam Shield Works

The Scam Shield feature, currently available for Android users via the GlobeOne app, works in real-time on your device. Once activated, it scans incoming messages and flags suspicious texts that may contain phishing links or fake sender IDs.

Globe’s Vice President for Product Experience, Coco Domingo, explained that the feature empowers users to make safer choices. “SMS Scam Shield is our way of giving customers more control and peace of mind. With this built-in protection, users are alerted when they receive suspicious messages that may contain dangerous links or impersonate Globe-affiliated brands.”

Early Success: Thousands Protected Already

In just a few weeks since its launch, over 34,000 GlobeOne users have activated Scam Shield. Impressively, the system has already detected and blocked more than 13,000 phishing messages—proof that the threat is widespread but also that the tool is working.

Privacy First

Worried about data privacy? Globe clarifies that Scam Shield doesn’t read or store your SMS. All scans happen locally on your phone, with only malicious links being collected to strengthen the system’s defenses.

Community Effort Against Scams

Globe also encourages subscribers to report suspicious messages through its Stop Spam portal at www.globe.com.ph/stop-spam. This helps expand the blacklist of harmful links and builds a safer online community for everyone.

Part of a Bigger Cybersecurity Push

Scam Shield isn’t a one-off tool. It’s part of Globe’s broader commitment to strengthen cybersecurity for its users. Domingo emphasized, “Security shouldn’t be an afterthought—it should be seamless. This is just the beginning of more proactive tools we’re building into our digital services.”

How to Activate Scam Shield

Globe subscribers can enable Scam Shield on the GlobeOne app in just a few taps:
  1. Open GlobeOne
  2. Go to Profile
  3. Select Security Settings
  4. Activate SMS Scam Shield
Best of all? It’s completely free.

As text scams become more sophisticated, tools like Globe’s SMS Scam Shield provide much-needed protection for Filipinos. If you’re a Globe subscriber with an Android device, enabling this feature is a simple but powerful step in safeguarding your personal data.

Don’t wait for the next phishing attempt—secure your GlobeOne app today.

EU Organic Dairy Campaign Wraps Up Final Year in the Philippines

Friday, September 19, 2025

Filipinos love their dairy—from creamy desserts to cheesy comfort food—and now, more are discovering the benefits of going organic. As the EU Organic Dairy PH campaign enters its final year, it continues to highlight why organic European dairy is not only delicious but also good for the body, animals, and the planet.

On August 15, 2025, the campaign hosted “The Dairy Good Academy – Brunch Edition” at the Grand Hyatt Garden Pavilion. The event brought together chefs, nutrition experts, and lifestyle influencers to talk about how organic European dairy fits perfectly into a Filipino family’s everyday meals.

A Celebration of Natural Goodness

Opening the program, Tom Alonzo, Digital Marketing Manager of Arla Philippines, shared how the campaign has helped Filipinos understand the message of choosing organic: it’s healthier, sustainable, and better for animal welfare.

The event featured nutrition experts like Jeaneth Aro, Olympic and elite performance nutrition coach, who explained how milk works as a sports recovery drink, while Jo Sebastian, a registered nutritionist-dietitian, emphasized how organic dairy makes dishes creamier and encourages kids to try new meals.

Celebrity chefs Roland “Chef Lau” Laudico and Jac Laudico also wowed the crowd with live demos, reimagining Filipino favorites like cheesy beef caldereta, grilled cheese pandenini, baked cream cheese poqui-poqui, and more—all made richer with organic European dairy.

The Standards Behind the Label

One key highlight of the campaign is educating consumers about the strict EU organic standards that ensure quality and sustainability:
  • At least 95% of ingredients must be organic
  • No artificial flavorings, colorants, sweeteners, GMOs, or growth hormones
  • Minimal use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides

Animal welfare is equally important. On European organic farms, cows graze freely, roam outdoors, and are fed a 100% organic diet without antibiotics or hormones—practices that make a difference in both taste and nutrition.

Denmark: A Pioneer in Organic Dairy

Denmark, one of the world leaders in organic production, became the first country to introduce organic legislation and state control labels for food. Out of 34,000 farms, 4,000 are certified organic. Farmers like Torben Sønderby of Klint Organic go above and beyond by ensuring top-quality, pesticide-free feed for their cows, producing millions of kilos of organic milk each year.

Bringing It Home for Filipino Families

The campaign will continue from August 2025 to January 2026 with supermarket samplings, consumer classes, and wellness workshops. These activities aim to help Filipinos easily identify authentic organic European dairy products—just look for the EU organic logo—and discover how to use them in daily meals.

Lifestyle influencer Steffy Gerona shared her takeaway: “As someone who loves preparing wholesome meals for my family, it’s reassuring to know how organic European dairy is produced. Learning about the EU logo made me more mindful of my food choices.”

Echoing this, Lars Witt Jensen, Senior Marketing Manager at the Danish Dairy Board, noted: “We’re proud that more Filipinos are becoming aware of what organic stands for. Through this campaign, we hope consumers will feel empowered to choose organic and enjoy its natural goodness.”

The EU Organic Dairy PH campaign may be wrapping up, but its legacy of promoting healthier choices, sustainable farming, and animal welfare will remain. By choosing products with the EU organic logo, Filipino families can enjoy dairy that’s not only creamy and delicious but also naturally good for everyone.
